Dil-e-naadaan tujhe huaa kyaa hai..

Almost every Ghazal artiste has sung this famous Ghazal of Ghalib in their own way. As such, we have so many wonderful tunes and variations to listen to. This one is sung by not-so-well-known Ghazal artiste Peenaz Masani whom you have already heard on Artmap along with Talat Aziz.

Jagjit Singh – Apna Gham Bhool Gaye (Rare)

Bringing up one of the rarest and oldest Ghazals of Jagjit Singh. Most of us have known Jagjit Singh for the past 10 or 15 years. Not many of us know that Jagjit Singh started his singing career long before that. This recording has the aura of early 1970s music composition and you can term it a rare gem in a plethora of Ghazals.

Jagjit Singh himself introduces this Ghazal to his today’s listeners saying this is one of the Ghazals which has long since been forgotten not only by his fans but by himself, too. Then like a flashback he plays the original recording of the Ghazal which takes you all the way back to 1970s. Now, what you hear in the Ghazal is the candid and young voice of Jagjit Singh which is incredible!

Don’t miss!

Hariharan – Saaqiya Jaayein Kahaan

There are not many artistes who have been Ghazal singers, film singers and pop singers. Hariharan has done all that and with elan. Singing Ghazals not only requires that you learn classical music but master Urdu pronunciation, too. Film singing, on the other hand, requires you to be musically flexible enough to be able to sing compositions that are often a blend of many a genre. And then, Pop music is Western and a lot different than Indian classical music.

Now, do you think exceling as a Ghazal singer, film singer and a Pop artiste is easy? Certainly not. Here is a public performance of a beautiful Ghazal by Hariharan in Raag Parameshwari. Worth a download.
